Accesso:
From Losar de la Vera, head towards the Vadillo natural swimming pool and continue along the track to the Refugio del Berezo. The track gradually descends and, once you’ve passed a cattle grid, begins to go downhill. As you start to climb again, take a track that branches off to your left (a fairly steep descent with sharp bends); continue towards the forest ranger’s house and park next to it.
Avvicinamento ():
Descend gently down the west-facing slope; you’ll come across a path alongside a pipe, and before long the path will take you right onto the riverbed itself.
Giro ():
We begin the descent in a section involving scrambling down to reach a pool with a 1-metre drop, followed immediately by another 2-metre drop. From this point, the gorge narrows and we reach the first abseil (left, 14m). From the top, it would be possible to jump down. We continue through a section of small slides and scrambling. We reach a large rock that has blocked the flow of the water, creating a abseil (15m) with an overhanging first section and a very narrow landing; take care when the water level is high. You can brace both legs (in opposition) on either side of the wall to stabilise yourself. Immediately after, there is a long pool that must be swum across. We emerge onto a flat section; descend the slippery slope on the right, keeping close to the wall. We’ll reach the 30-metre abseil, which runs halfway down this very slippery slope. Halfway down, we come to some boulders where the final 30-metre abseil is located. In the final section, descend on the right-hand side until you reach the 4-metre slide. Continue down via short scrambles and slides until you reach the final pool of your descent. (Here, the Vadillo stream joins the Vertiente de Pinogal stream.)
Ritorno (20 min):
We crossed the stream and began to climb up the hillside until we came to the mountain road track (PVC pipe). We climbed until we crossed the stream again, this time to the left, and after walking 50 metres we turned off onto the hillside to the right to continue climbing in a zigzag pattern, following the tracks until we reached the forest ranger’s house.
