Von Reutte auf der 198 das Lechtal aufwärts bis Stanzach. 500 m hinter der Ortsmitte von Stanzach rechts abbiegen, den Lech queren und 2,4 km fahren nach Vorderhornbach. Dort nehmen wir die Hornbacher Landstraße L264 und fahren bis Hinterhornbach, durchqueren den Weiler und fahren im Tal weiter bis zum Fahrverbotsschild. Hier stellen wir unser Auto an geeigneter Stelle ab.
From Reutte on the 198 up the Lech valley to Stanzach. 500 m after the center of Stanzach turn right, cross the Lech and drive 2.4 km to Vorderhornbach. There we take the Hornbacher Landstraße L264 and drive to Hinterhornbach, cross the hamlet and continue in the valley until we reach the no driving sign. Here we park our car in a suitable place.

Nun gehen wir zu Fuß hinunter zum Hornbach, queren diesen und laufen dann auf der orograf. rechten Seite der Hornbaches bachauf in Richtung Petersbergalpe. Bald queren wir ein breites Kiesbett, das aus dem Karlestal herabflutet. Ca. 200 Meter nach dem Kiesbett, biegen wir links auf einen Forstweg ab der nach kurzer Zeit in einen kaum mehr zu erkennenten Steig zu den Bretterkarhütten übergeht. Diesen folgen wir bis auf eine Höhe von ca. 1450 Meter und queren dann ins Bachbett.
Now we walk down to the Hornbach, cross it and then walk on the orographic. right side of the Hornbach upstream in the direction of Petersbergalpe. Soon we cross a wide gravel bed that flows down from the Karlestal. Approx. 200 meters after the gravel bed, we turn left onto a forest path which after a short time turns into a hardly recognizable path to the Bretterkar huts. We follow this path up to an altitude of about 1450 meters and then cross into the streambed.
