Von der 4-spurigen Straße, die (von Bellinzona kommend) auf Locarno zuläuft, biegen wir bei der Ausfahrt Tenero (Locarno) ab, fahren nach der Bahnunterführung links und kommen nach einer Rechtskurve zu einem Kreisverkehr, den wir in der ursprünglichen (nördlichen) Richtung wieder verlassen. In der Nähe der nun vor uns aufragenden Kirche suchen wir einen brauchbaren Parkplatz.
From the 4-lane road that (coming from Bellinzona) runs towards Locarno, we turn off at the Tenero (Locarno) exit, turn left after the railroad underpass and after a right turn we come to a traffic circle, which we leave again in the original (northern) direction. Near the church that now towers in front of us, we look for a useful parking place.

Von der Kirche folgen wir der nach Contra hinaufziehenden Straße 150 m und biegen dann rechts auf einen Fußweg ab. Dieser quert erneut die Straße, dann unseren Bach (informativer Tiefblick auf die Schlusswasserfälle) und führt dann auf der orograf. rechten Bachseite aufwärts. From the church we follow the road going up to Contra 150 m and then turn right onto a footpath. This crosses the road again, then our stream (informative low view of the final waterfalls) and then goes up on the orographic. right side of the stream. In the process, it tangents twice more road serpentines (the second time a few meters on the road to the right) before it goes up in a fairly straight line. Entgegen der Beschreibung in Eldorado Ticino keine reine Ausweichtour. Tolles Ambiente in dschunglhafter Umgebung und tolle Lichtverhältnisse wenn die Sonne ab Mittag durch die Bäume scheint. Der Bach ist sauber. Letzter Kettenstand beim C18 ist nur noch halb intakt.
Contrary to the description in Eldorado Ticino, this is not just an alternative tour. Great ambience in jungle-like surroundings and great light conditions when the sun shines through the trees from midday. The stream is clean. Last chain anchor at the C18 is only half intact.

Haben den Bach an einem heissen Tag mit niedrigem Wasserstand gemacht. Zum Glück liegt er schattig 😁 die Verankerungen waren gut. Wir sind bei der letzten Brücke vor dem letzten Abseiler ausgestiegen. Der Stand ist dort an einem Baumstrunk an mehreren Stricken befestigt. Macht grundsätzlich einen brauchbaren Eindruck.
Did the stream on a hot day with a low water level. Luckily it was shady 😁 the anchors were good. We got off at the last bridge before the last rappel. The stand there is attached to a tree trunk with several ropes. It basically makes a good impression.

We didn't do the final cascade as the anchoring is really no longer good.
Please take a drill with you next time.
The canyon is superiore accessible by public transport from e.g. cugnasco. (Upper station "zotte")

Nachts nach Regenfällen macht auch dieser Canyon Spaß! Am Tage schwierige Parkplatz Situation und der viele Müll im Canyon fällt bei Licht sicherlich wesentlich mehr auf. Nachtcanyon erfordert zwingend hochwertige wasserdichte Stirnlampen und Erfahrungen im Dunkeln!

This canyon is also fun at night after rainfall! During the day, the parking lot situation is difficult and the amount of garbage in the canyon is certainly much more noticeable in the light. Night canyon requires high-quality waterproof headlamps and experience in the dark!
