Von Lecco fährt man auf der SS36 Richtung Sondrio. Dann nimmt man die Ausfahrt Richtung Varenna, Mandello, Lierna, Abbalia. Auf der Bundesstraße neben dem Comosee weiterfahren. Direkt vor dem Tunnel links Richtung Varenna abbiegen. In der Ortschaft Varenna sucht man in der Nähe der Brücke oder am Bahnhof (Esino inferiore) einen ggf. gebührenpflichtigen Parkplatz (Zur Hauptsaison nicht einfach!). Alternativ kann zwischen den Tunneln an der SP72 parken, wo auch direkt an der Kläranlage ausgestiegen werden kann.
Zustiegsparkplatz:
Hierfür biegt man direkt nach der Brücke (orographisch rechts) ab und fährt die Straße Richtung Perledo hoch. Nach ein paar Serpentinenkurven biegt man rechts Richtung „Vezio“ ab. Neben der Firma bzw. direkt vor dem Fahrtverbot am großen Parkplatz (Camper/ LKW) rechts parken.
From Lecco take the SS36 towards Sondrio. Then take the exit towards Varenna, Mandello, Lierna, Abbalia. Continue on the main road next to Lake Como. Just before the tunnel turn left towards Varenna. In the town of Varenna, look for a parking place near the bridge or at the train station (Esino inferiore), possibly with a fee (not easy in high season!). Alternatively, you can park between the tunnels on the SP72, where you can also get off directly at the sewage treatment plant.
Access parking:
For this, turn right just after the bridge (orographically on the right) and drive up the road towards Perledo. After a few hairpin bends, turn right towards "Vezio". Park on the right next to the company or directly in front of the driving ban at the large parking lot (camper / truck).

Wenn man mit dem PKW hochgefahren ist, geht man Richtung Brücke. Vor der Brücke folgt man den Eingang des Restaurants „Crott del Pepott“ bis zur Aussichtpunkt in der Schlucht. Direkt neben dem Geländer findet man den Bohrhaken zum Abseilen. Alternativ bei direkt von der Brücke 15m in den Bach abseilen.
After parking at the bridge (Esino inferiore) in the village of Varenna, go up the marked trail towards Vezio/Perledo on the orographic left side of the stream (about 100m before the bridge), at the "Hotel/Ristorante Monte Codeno". The path leads to a fork with a private dirt road, which you follow until you reach the asphalt road. Then follow this road descending to the left towards the stream. At the bridge, go (orographically on the left) a little further across the company grounds and climb there directly in the creek (approx. 320Hm), or rappel directly from the bridge 15m into the creek. Die Schlucht beginnt wenig spektakulär auf 320Hm vor den Staumauerstufen zwischen der Schnellstraßenbrücke und der Zufahrtsbrücke die über den Esino führt. Gleich bei der Zufahrtsbrücke gibt es auf beiden Seiten einen Privatweg der zum Restaurant und in die Schlucht führt. Eine alte Steinbrücke über die Schlucht dient als Verbindung der Privatwege (evtl. Einstieg an der orographisch re Seite über Privatweg und Geländer zum 1. Stand). Besser direkt von der Brücke 15m in den Bach abseilen. Unter Beobachtung der Restaurantbesucher wird über die ersten 2 Stufen abgeseilt. Danach folgt ca. 200m flaches Gehgelände. Nach einer kleinen gemauerten Stufe wird es endlich interessant. Kontinuierlich führen kleinere Abseiler, Klettereien und Rutschen, durch die nicht tief aber eng eingeschnittene und vegetationsreiche Schlucht. Die Schlucht führt trotz großen Einzugsgebiets nur wenig Wasser. Sollte der Wasserstand jedoch höher sein kann es ziemlich unangenehm werden da die meisten Abseiler direkt im Wasserlauf sind. Die schönen Auswaschungen und das dunkle Kalkgestein begeistert jeder Begeher. Nach ca. 1,5h endet die Schlucht plötzlich und man steht im offenen Bachbett. Hier trifft man leider auf eine übelriechende Kläranlage die, wenn man Pech hat, noch Wasser in den Bach leitet.
The canyon begins less spectacularly at 320Hm before the dam steps between the highway bridge and the access bridge that leads over the Esino. Just at the access bridge there is a private path on both sides that leads to the restaurant and into the canyons. An old stone bridge over the canyon serves as a connection of the private paths (possible entry on the orographic right side via private path and railing to the 1st stand). Better to rappel directly from the bridge 15m into the stream. Under observation of the restaurant visitors, rappel down the first 2 steps. After that follows about 200m of flat walking terrain. After a small brick step it finally gets interesting. Continuously smaller rappels, climbs and slides lead through the canyon, which is not deep but narrow and rich in vegetation. The canyon carries little water despite a large catchment area. However, if the water level is higher it can be quite unpleasant as most of the rappels are directly in the watercourse. The beautiful washouts and the dark limestone inspire every walker. After about 1.5h the canyon ends suddenly and you are standing in the open streambed. Here, unfortunately, you meet a foul-smelling sewage treatment plant that, if you are unlucky, still leads water into the stream.

From the sewage treatment plant, follow the course of the stream (with little contact with the water) to the 2nd bridge, where you reach the road (220m) via stone steps on the right. Alternatively, you can follow the stream to Lake Como (exit at approx. 200m).
Better and faster, however, shortly after the exit from the canyon and directly before the sewage treatment plant, turn right up the steep forest. Then follow a small path that takes you back up to the parking lot in about 15-20 minutes.

Netter Canyon und besser als gedacht. Die Angaben zum Parkplatz Ausstieg stimmen nicht. Das ist eine Firma und die möchte nicht das man da rein fährt. Wir sind alle hochgefahren. Oben gibt es genug Parkplätze. Aufstieg am besten am See. Dort können die andere. dann auch besser abgeholt werden wenn die Autos von oben wieder zurück kommen. Man muss halt hochlaufen.
Nice canyon and better than expected. The information about the parking lot exit is not correct. This is a company and they don't want you to drive in there. We all drove up. There are plenty of parking spaces at the top. The best ascent is by the lake. It's easier to pick up the others there when the cars come back from the top. You just have to walk up.

Als Option für instabiles Wetter gewählt. Optisch toller Canyon mit einfachen Abseilern. Genusscanyoning. Restaurant am Einstieg ist geschlossen und Privatweg nicht zugänglich. Wir sind von der Brücke abgeseilt. Unterwegs insgesamt 5 tote Eichhörnchen aus dem Wasser entfernt. Wenige Sprünge in sehr flaches Wasser aber mit Kiesboden waren möglich. Haken alle gut in Schuss. Ausstieg direkt bei der Kläranlage orografisch links über das Bauhofgelände. Fast durchgehend Mobilfunkempfang. Beschreibung überarbeitet.
Chosen as an option for unstable weather. Visually great canyon with easy rappels. Pleasure canyoning. Restaurant at the entrance is closed and private trail not accessible. We rappelled from the bridge. Removed a total of 5 dead squirrels from the water on the way. Few jumps into very shallow water but with gravel bottom were possible. Hooks all in good shape. Exit directly at the sewage treatment plant orographically left across the construction yard area. Cell phone reception almost throughout. Description revised.

Esino inférieur ist ein sehr kurzer Canyon in der italienischen Ortschaft Perledo. Dieser Canyon ist wunderschön und tief eingeschnitten, Die Abseilstellen sind nicht besonders hoch. Innerhalb einer Woche war ich 3 mal im Esino, einmal davon Nachts.
Der Zustieg ist nur wenige Meter vom Parkplatz entfernt. Wir haben beide Autos während der Tour am oberen Parkplatz gelassen und erst nach der Tour zum Ausstieg geholt.

Esino inférieur is a very short canyon in the Italian village of Perledo. This canyon is beautiful and deeply incised, the abseils are not particularly high. Within a week I was in the Esino 3 times, once at night.
The access is only a few meters away from the parking lot. We left both cars at the upper parking lot during the tour and only picked them up for the exit after the tour.
