Von Ventimiglia das Roya-Tal hinauf. Vorbei an der Abzweigung der Straße (D 19) nach Sospel (16 km ab Ventimiglia) biegt man ca. 1,5 km weiter rechts ab und fährt über die Roya nach Fanghetto, wo man vor dem Dorf das Fahrzeug abstellt.

From Ventimiglia up the Roya valley. Passing the junction of the road (D 19) to Sospel (16 km from Ventimiglia), turn right about 1.5 km further and cross the Roya to Fanghetto, where you park the vehicle in front of the village.

Auf dem Fußweg nach Breil-sur-Roya geht es leicht bergan in nördlicher Richtung. Ohne uns dessen bewusst zu werden, queren wir die Grenze zu Frankreich. An der Markierung "411" biegen wir auf einen Pfad rechts ab, der leicht ansteigend am orograf. li. Hang des Audin aufwärts führt. Wir passieren die Markierung "445", wo der Einstieg zum unteren Audin (nur Sprünge u. Rutschen ohne echten Abseiler) links hinunter geht. Wir folgen dem Pfad, der in großen Bogen hinaufzieht, dabei einen Seitenbach quert und über einen breiten Rücken hinweg zum Bach führt. Der Zustieg wird sonst über die Ortschaft Libre mit Autoumsetzung beschrieben, doch führt diese über jeweils 8 km hin und zurück, sodass die Zeitersparnis kaum ins Gewicht fällt und der angenehme Aufstieg mit Blick auf den 40-m-Wasserfall sinnvoller erscheint.

The footpath to Breil-sur-Roya takes us slightly uphill in a northerly direction. Without realizing it, we cross the border to France. At the "411" marker, we turn right onto a path that climbs slightly up the orographic left slope of the Audin. We pass the marker "445", where the entry to the lower Audin (only jumps and slides without real rappel) goes down to the left. We follow the path, which climbs in a wide arc, crosses a side stream and leads over a broad ridge to the stream. The access is otherwise described via the village of Libre with shuttle, but this leads over 8 km there and back, so the time saving is hardly significant and the pleasant ascent with a view of the 40 m waterfall seems more sensible.

Leider liegt zwischen dem hohen Wasserfall und dem unteren Fun-Abschnitt eine Laufstrecke mit Blockkletterei von rund 300 m. Die Begehung lohnt eigentlich nur, wenn im hohen Wasserfall einigermaßen Wasserdurchsatz vorhanden ist.

Unfortunately, between the high waterfall and the lower fun part is a run with block climbing of about 300 meters. The walk is actually only worthwhile if there is some water flow in the high waterfall.
