Park in the large square by the Monteviasco cable car.

From the cable car square, cross the bridge over the Viaschina stream and climb to the right towards Monteviasco, then immediately turn left towards Mulini di Piero. Upon reaching Mulini di Piero, there are two options: 1: stay high and find, at the end of the meadow, a trail that climbs steeply into the forest for about a hundred meters, then sharply turns left (a few cairns and occasional white marks). Upon reaching a more open area with meadow and birches, follow the trail continuing on level ground marked with red; it soon descends to the streambed near the first rappel on the map (50 minutes). Approx. 260 m D+. 2: stay low and follow the path along the Giona River until reaching the mouth of the Rassina stream. Cross the stream (assess the flow) and pass shortly after a mountain hut. The trail begins to climb, but after a few dozen meters, a faint path marked with red paint branches off to the right. This path enters the stream valley, follows the right bank upstream, and finally crosses the stream—this is the starting point of the descent (50 minutes). Upon reaching the confluence with the Giona River, follow the trail on the left bank back to Mulini di Piero and then to the parking (15 minutes).
