Folhado hat uns gar nicht gefallen. Da läuft man lieber auf der Levada do Seixal weiter durch den Tunnel und macht den Hortela inf.

We didn't like Folhado at all. It's better to walk further along the Levada do Seixal through the tunnel and do the Hortela inferiore.

Netter Canyon, der mehr an eine Schlucht im Dschungel erinnert. Zustieg über die Levada do Seixal kein Problem. In der Schlucht selber gibt es eine Stelle mit vielen Bäumen. Die Becken sind alle sehr flach und die Felsen scharfkantig. Letztes Drittel ist wirklich schön. Die Platzierung der Standplätze auf Madeira ist wirklich besonders: hohe Abseiler sind oft nur als Zwischenstand erreichbar und dann freihängend umzubauen.

Nice canyon, more reminiscent of a canyon in the jungle. Access via the Levada do Seixal is no problem. In the canyon itself there is a spot with lots of trees. The pools are all very shallow and the rocks are sharp-edged. The last third is really beautiful. The placement of the belays on Madeira is really special: high rappels are often only accessible as intermediate belays and then free-hanging.

Les rappels se succèdent, faciles au début, ils deviennent plus beaux et plus difficiles au fil de la descente. La fin, après la confluence avec l'Hortela, est très spectaculaire. Malheureusement, le canyon est diablement glissant, ce qui rend la progression pénible. Tous les ancrages sont en bon état, seul l'un d'entre eux nécessite un resserrage de vis.L'eau est certes très fraîche, mais ce n'est que vers la fin que l'on a beaucoup de contact avec l'eau.Les parois sont remarquablement vertes.
