Von Strobel am Wolfgangsee kommend richt. Bad Ischl --> nach dem Tunnel re. ins Rettenbachtal --> nach der Brücke beim Wirt der Bergstraße/Schotterstraße (Schild Sackgasse) folgen --> !Nicht bis ans Ende der Straße fahren, sondern bei einer großen Straßennische li. parken (hier zweigt re. eine kl. Forststraße ab)

Coming from Strobel am Wolfgangsee direction. Bad Ischl --> after the tunnel turn right into the Rettenbachtal --> after the bridge at the innkeeper follow the mountain road/gravel road (sign dead end) --> !Do not drive to the exit of the road, but park at a large street alcove on the left (here branches off a small forest road on the right)

Vom Parkplatz folgt man der Forststraße hinunter--> vor der Brücke kann am Holzmessstationshäuschen der Wasserpegel ablesen werden--> nach der Brücke immer der steilen Forststraße entlang--> vorbei an der Baggerabsturz- Gedenktafel --> bis zur Lichtung (Ebene) --> hier noch vor dem Hochstand re. in den Bach einsteigen (rote kleine Eisenbrücke am Einstieg!). Einstieg auch unmittelbar über dem "Doppler" möglich.

From the parking lot, follow the forest road down--> before the bridge, the water level can be read at the wooden measuring station house--> after the bridge, always along the steep forest road--> past the excavator crash memorial plaque --> to the clearing (level) --> here still before the raised stand right into the stream (red small iron bridge at the entry!). Entry also possible directly above the "Doppler".

Nach der Brücke kommt gleich die erste Rutsche, die man auch abklettern und springen kann --> nach kurzer Gehstrecke folgt ein ca. 12m Abseiler in den ‘Dome’ --> nach dem ‘Dome’ folgt eine längere Gehpassage --> im oberen Teil der Schlucht befindet sich der bekannte Dopplerfall (ca. 2x15m Abseiler mit tiefen Gumpen) der bei hohen Wasserstand sehr gefährlich werden kann --> am Dopplerfall sind jedoch genügend Bohrhaken vorhanden um ein Seilbahnsystem aufbauen zu können (für Sprungprofis wäre nach Kontrolle der Tiefe der zweiten 15m Abseiler auch springbar) --> nach dieser Stelle folgen in der Schluchtenmitte mehrere rutschige Geh/Kletterpassagen und kleinere Abseilstufen --> im Idealfall gibt es auch mehrere Sprungstellen ( meist sehr rutschig) --> der Mittel- und Schlussteil nehmen wegen der abwechslungsreichen Stellen am meisten Zeit, Kraft und Konzentration in Anspruch -->am Schluss der Schlucht bis zur Einmündung in den Rettenbach gehen --> hier aussteigen. Die Tour ist mittlerweile gut eingebohrt sodaß man an vielen Stellen mehrere Möglichkeiten vorfindet. Der Stand beim Baggerwrack ist schwer zu erreichen - ein alternativer Stand ohne Absturzgefahr ist orografisch rechts an dieser Stelle.

Right after the bridge comes the first slide, which you can also downclimb and jump off --> after a short walking passage, there’s a 12-meter rappel into the “Dome” --> after the “Dome” comes a longer walking passage --> in the upper part of the canyon is the well-known double cascade (approx. 2 x 15-meter rappels with deep pools), which can be very dangerous when the water level is high --> however, there are enough bolts at the double cascade to set up a rope system (for experienced jumpers, the second 15-meter rappel could also be jumpable after checking the depth) --> after this point, several slippery walking/climbing sections and smaller rappels follow in the middle of the gorge --> ideally, there are also several jumping spots (usually very slippery) --> the middle and final sections require the most time, energy, and concentration due to the varied terrain --> at the end of the canyon, continue to the confluence with the Rettenbach --> exit here. The route is now well-bolted, so there are multiple options available at many points. The belay station at the excavator wreck is difficult to reach—an alternative belay station with no risk of falling is located orographically to the right at this point.

An der Stelle wo man auf den Rettenbach trifft am besten ca. 20 m am Ufer entlang stromauf gehen dann den Rettenbach queren. An der gegenüberliegenden Seite findet man einen zuerst unscheinbaren Pfad der in wenigen Minuten zur Forststraße führt. An der Forststraße angekommen ca. 100m re. bis zum Parkplatz zurück gehen.

At the point where you meet the Rettenbach, it is best to walk upstream along the bank for about 20 m and then cross the Rettenbach. On the opposite side you will find an initially inconspicuous path that leads in a few minutes to the forest road. When you reach the forest road, walk back about 100m to the right until you reach the parking lot.
