Wir verlassen die A 12 (Genova - Pisa) auf der Ausfahrt Massa, durchqueren die Stadt und nehmen Kurs in das Gebirge nach Forno. Etwa 3 km weiter (nach Forno) endet dann die asphaltierte Straße (375m üNN). Hier stellen wir unser Auto ab (siehe Anfahrt unter Fotogalerie).
We leave the A 12 (Genova - Pisa) at the Massa exit, cross the town and head into the mountains towards Forno. About 3 km further (after Forno) the asphalt road ends (375m above sea level). Here we park our car (see approach under photo gallery).

Es geht nun auf dem Wanderweg CAI 167/168 links hinauf in den Canale Fondone, ein Schotterkar aus Marmorsteinen.
Etwa auf Höhe 420m üNN verzweigt sich der Weg. Wir nehmen den Weg rechts (CAI 167) und erreichen nach längerem Anstieg auf ihm einen Kamm über dem Canale degli Alberghi, der eine Aussicht auf die Bergflanke darüber eröffnet. Hier zieht eine Spur links hinab in das trockene Bachbett (Einstieg).
Now take the CAI 167/168 hiking trail to the left up into the Canale Fondone, a gravel cirque of marble stones.
The path branches off at around 420m above sea level. Take the path on the right (CAI 167) and, after a long climb, reach a ridge above the Canale degli Alberghi, which offers a view of the mountain flank above. Here a track descends to the left into the dry streambed (entry).

Im Bachbett abwärts erreichen wir bald den ersten Abseiler auf glattem Marmor. Es folgen 18 weitere Abseiler, unterbrochen von Laufstrecken und Stufen zum Abklettern (siehe Topo).
In the streambed downhill we soon reach the first rappel on smooth marble. 18 more rappels follow, interrupted by runs and steps for downclimbing (see topographic view).
